Dr. Twombly is clinically trained as a physical therapist and specializes in interdisciplinary therapies and recovery from traumatic injuries. His diverse clinical and professional work includes extensive experience with chronic pain, trauma, TBI, interventional pain, mental illness, and orthopedics, as well as treatment and performance enhancement for Olympic athletes. Traumatic injuries, both physical and emotional, have multifaceted effects on the body and mind, involving the neurological, musculoskeletal, hormonal, and mental/emotional systems. Dr. Twombly has researched and worked with experts in all of these fields, allowing him to bring a comprehensive approach to identifying, understanding, and recovering from traumatic injuries.
Dr. Twombly has benefitted from years of insurer claims handling and processing training from nationally renowned Expert Insurance Consultant, James Mathis. Combining his knowledge of medicine and insurer processes enables him to bring exceptional insight to injury claims.
Dr. Twombly received his Master of Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000, completed fellowship training in orthopedics, sports med, and primary care intervention for neuro-musculo-skeletal disorders at Sports Medicine of Atlanta in 2004, and concluded doctoral studies in Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2007.
